Wannetta recently returned back from the east coast where she has been studying various street dance styles in NYC with teachers/choreographers that work with some of the hottest artists today. In addition to hip hop Wannetta is also trained in ballet, tap and jazz.
An Ohio native, Wannetta grew up always loving to move and at an early age was performing in school talent shows and dance contests and began ballet and tap dance lessons at age 7. She was a member of the “Linda’s Lassies” baton twirling corp where she traveled all over the US and Canada twirling baton in many parades and events. She also spent some time doing runway modeling, teaching aerobics and as a certified personal trainer for Bally Total Fitness.
Continuing with her love for movement she performed in the Cleveland Ballet’s production “US” and performed in hip hop numbers. She worked as a choreographer for a musical production in the Cleveland Area as well as providing dance coaching and choreography for a few local musicians, South High School and the Notre Dame College dance team. During this time she also received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Cleveland State University.
As a former aerobics instructor and personal trainer, Wannetta’s classes are known for making you sweat. She has taught in several school systems and dance studios throughout the Cleveland area since 1994. In addition to managing DancinOne Wannetta worked with the hip hop dance troupe “Urban Funk” she founded in 1999 for 2 yrs. She has performed in the Cleveland “Lighting of the Square” shows at Public Square and choreographed and performed with the “Cleveland Pops dancers”. Wannetta choreographed and was a back up dancer for Christian recording artist “Pam Thum” at the “Joyful Noise 2000” music festival.
In 2003 she participated in a local dance film and then the next year she hosted the “Ultimate Hip Hop Workshops” that featured top teachers/choreographers from all over in Cleveland, Ohio.
Today Wannetta is CPR/AED certified and continues to train with kickboxing, weight training and Pilates. She also travels to NYC whenever she can to continue to train and keep fresh on what is happening in the world of dance today.
